Act Now Retires

Victoria Cup and Victoria Derby winner Act Now has run his last race.

The 7yo son of Somebeachsomewhere retires with the outstanding record of 22 wins in 51 starts for $910,885.

Bred and raced by Bruce and Vicki Edward, who operate Durham Park, Act Now spent his entire racing career in our stable.

He also had a great association with Jodi Quinlan, who drove him in all but his first three starts.

Act Now debuted as a 2yo and went on to win six times in that season, including five in a row.

These included the Group 2 Home Gown Classic at Melton and Tatlow Stakes at Melton.

Act Now rose to great heights as a 3yo, winning a heat and final of the 2021 Victoria Derby, and making a clean sweep of the Breeders Crown, with victories in the heat, semi-final and final at Melton.

He was a dominant force in the 2022 Melbourne Inter Dominion Championship, winning two heats and finishing third in the final.

One of the entire’s greatest moments was victory in the 2023 Victoria Cup.

Act Now’s last win came at Melton on December 7 last year.
