Stable Weekly Wrap | 19 April 2021
There’s nothing like a smart win on debut by a two-year-old to get the adrenalin going. Irish Black Label certainly did that when she saluted in 1:56.6 at Geelong on Saturday night. Bred and raced by Anne and Bill Anderson, of Lauriston Bloodstock, the daughter of Bettors Delight is the first foal out of 4-time winner Rosie OReilly. Irish Black Label was the first leg of a stable double.
WEEK IN REVIEW
1st Irish Black Label (Kate Gath): Flying Brick Cider Co. 2yo, 1609m (career-best 1:56.6), at Geelong on Saturday, April 17. Led and finished off with 55.6-second last 800m (27.9 and 27.7) to score by 8.6m.
1st Ample Power (David Moran): Geelong High-Speed Racing Claiming Pace, 2100m (1:56), at Geelong on Saturday, April 17. The 8yo settled mid-field in a torrid start. Sent three-wide at 800m and swooped to lead to putting the race away on home bend.
1st Minuscule (Kath Gath): Alabar Vicbred Platinum, 1609m (1:56.7), at Charlton on Thursday, April 15. Pleasing to see the 4yo mare back in winning form after some indifferent runs. She now has 7 wins in just 17 starts.
1st Runaway Celebrity (Kate Gath): TAB Long May Play Pace, 1690m (1:56.8), at Maryborough on Monday, April 12. Another winner on debut and the seventh winner out of grand broodmare Celebrity Ball, which has also left the likes of multiple group 3 winner Starburst Girl (27 wins, $140,000) and group 2 winners Our Celebrity (12 wins, $130,000)
