Always Hot capped off what’s been a busy period by taking out the Group 1 New South Wales Derby.

Once he found the front from his wide draw he was always in control and gave Greg Sugars an armchair ride to the line, scoring by 8.6m in 1:53.9.

The Highlight Reel was a solid third at his second start off a lengthy break.

Always Hot’s record now stands at eight starts for eight wins.

HAROLD SMITH landed his first feature win in the McNamara Memorial Geelong Trotters Cup, coming off 10m.

IT’S been a quiet week and our only starters over the weekend will be Oliver Dan and Heza Punk Rocker in a Tasmania Cup heat at Hobart on Sunday. Each is first-up.

Oliver Dan last raced in October, while Heza Punk Rocker took out the Group 1 Vicbred Super Series 4yo final at his latest start in September at just his third Australian start since arriving from NZ.
