WOW! Breeders Crown night at Melton on Saturday was so special for everyone involved in the stable.

Six wins – four group 1 and 2 group 2.

There were some great performances outside the winners as well.

1ST JUST A BIT TOUCHY (Kate Gath): Breeders Crown 2yo trotting fillies, 2240m (1:59.3), at Melton on Saturday, November 20. Last 400m 28.7. What a scintillating finishing burst she produced.  Three wins in six starts for the daughter of Father Patrick. Bred by DJ and SB Poole. Congratulations to Big Wookie Racing Group, L A McMillan, R D Smart, C R Tonkin, B J Prentice

Big night also for her dam Gypsy Flair, with Banglez third in her group 1 final.

1ST ACT NOW (Jodi Quinlan): Breeders Crown 3yo colts/geldings, 2240m (1:55.3), at Melton on Saturday, November 20. Last 800m in 54sec. When he needed to find something extra late after leading, he did just that and responded to everything Jodi asked of him. What a sensational record the Victoria Derby winner now has, with 13 wins in 24 starts for $469,000. He’s won his past six. Congratulations to owner and breeders Brice and Vicki Edward from Durham Park.

1st LADIES IN RED (David Moran): Breeders Crown 3yo fillies, 2240m (1:53.1), at Melton on Saturday, November 20. Each 400m sectional run sub-30 sec – 28.8, 28.6, 27.8, 27.6. She settled midfield in the running line before staking her claim to return to winning form. The Mach Three filly has won 14 of 17 starts for $489,000. Congratulations to owners and breeders Anne and Bill Anderson, of Lauriston Bloodstock.

1st ENCIPHER (Kate Gath): Breeders Crown 2yo fillies, 2240m (1:56), at Melton on Saturday, November 20. Last 800m 56.2. We had nine in the final and Encipher earned the stable bragging rights. She’s had only six starts for three wins for $223,000. Congratulations to her SA owner and breeder Tyson Linke.

1st MAAJIDA (Greg Sugars): Breeders Crown 4yo mares, 2240m (1:54.6), at Melton on Saturday, November 20. Last 800m 55.1. Driven with a sit on the back of the leader and then cruised up and away in the straight. What a grand mare. 20 wins in 33 starts for $547,000. Bred by GR, IG, LJ and SJ Johnson, and raced by Atworthy Park Group. Congratulations.

1st HONOLUA BAY (David Moran): Breeders Crown 4yo entires/geldings, 2240m (1:54), at Melton on Saturday, November 20.  Last 800m 54.7 after settling near the tail. That’s two starts for two wins since joining our stable for $70,000 in stakes to almost double his earnings.  Impressive career standings of 11 wins in 18 starts. Congratulations to owners and breeders Anne and Bill Anderson, of Lauriston Bloodstock. It came in the opening race and launched a big night for them.

1st INTERJECT (Bailey McDonough): TAB Long May We Play 2yo Pace (1:58.1), 2200m, at Ballarat on Wednesday, November 17. Last 800m 57.7. Still has a bit to learn, given she got a  bit lost when he moved to the lead going into the last turn. Once she knuckled down though the Always B Miki filly raced away to score by 35m. Congratulation owner and breeder Alabar Bloodstock.

1st MR KIWI (Connor Clarke): HRV Hero Pace, 2200m, at Ballarat on Wednesday, November 17. Last 800m 56.7. It was the experienced former WA 6yo’s first start for the stable. Well done to a big group of owners - Summit Bloodstock Syndicate, KA Tattoli, RA Spice, LT Helson, DJ Bruce, RT Taniora, JN Jarvis, AD Burnett, JG Campbell, R J Alewood, A J Monaco, AJ Rutherford, GB Davies and SA Brenton.

1ST LONGFELLOW  (Natalee Emery): Globe Derby 3yo colts/geldings final, 2200m (1:59.9), at Launceston on Sunday, November 21. Last 800m 56.3. The biggest win of this Tassie-bred colt’s like. Relaxed early before moving up outside the leader and then drew away after a shake up on the turn. Congratulations on the group 2 success to Aaron Bain Racing, Summit Bloodstock Syndicate, BJ Yole, P Cole, E J Stewart.
