TSR Weekly Wrap | 3 April 2024
Fantastic to see Clayton celebrate a Group 1 victory with Fox Dan in the $150,000 Bathurst Gold Crown for 2yo colts and geldings on Saturday, March 30.
It was Clayton’s first Group 1 success as a trainer in his name since Lightning Dan scored in the APG Gold Bullion for 2yo colts and geldings in May, 2021.
What an association we’ve had with Danny Zavitsanos.
Fox Dan, which debuted with a win in a Gold Crown heat, rated 1:54.7 in saluting by 3.8m.
Clayton also produced third-placegetter Wazza on a night he also had a feature win in Tasmania.
Tasmanian-owned Indelible won as she liked in the $20,000 Jane Ellen Final for mares at Launceston.
She spaced her nearest rival by 21m in stretching her winning streak to four - the past three for Clayton.
Although Major Delight had to settle for third in the $100,000 Riverina Mares Championships Final at Wagga on March 31, it is worth noting the placings took her career earnings past $600,000.
