Two-year-old colt Star Burst Boy had a bit to live up to from the moment he was born.
He comes from an exceptional family.
His great grand dam is Larrakeyah Lady – the dam of nine winners including the 2002 AG Hunter Cup.
His grand dam is Celebrity Ball – the dam of seven winners.
And his dam is group 3 winner Starburst Girl – a winner of 14 races and now two winners from as many starters.
We have had been privileged to have enjoyed plenty of success with many members of this family, so it was satisfying to take Star Burst Boy to victory on debut at Cranbourne on Monday.

1st SOUTHERN BURGUNDY (Bailey McDonough): Alabar Horsham 3yo Classic, 2200m (1:57.5), at Horsham on Thursday, October 21. Improved filly which has two wins in six starts since arriving from SA. Congratulations to Aaron Bain Racing, Summit Bloodstock and AM Ashwood.
1st IRISH BLACK LABEL (David Moran): G2 Nutrien Equine Tatlow Stakes for 2yo fillies, 2100m (1:57.8), at Geelong on Saturday, October 23. Big effort first-up since end of May when won G1 APG Vic Gold Bullion. She now has three wins in four starts. Congratulations to Lauriston Bloodstock.
1st BEACH MUSIC (David Moran): Allied Express 3yo Classic, 2100m (1:55.9), at Geelong on Saturday, October 23. Led and always looked the winner. Filly has now won seven of 15 starts for $120,000. Congratulations again to Lauriston Bloodstock.
1st JUST A BIT TOUCHY (Kate Gath): Keystone Lodge-Two Wells SA 2yo Trotters Hcp, 2180m (2:1), at Maryborough on Sunday, October 24. There isn’t a lot of this filly, but she gives everything and did the job from 10m at her first start sine August 4. That’s two wins in just three starts. Congratulations to Big Wookie Racing Group, LA McMillan, RD Smart, CR Tonkin and BJ Prentice.
1st STAR BURST BOY (Bailey McDonough): Decron 2yo Maiden Pace, 2080m (2:1.8), at Cranbourne on Monday, October 25. Winner on debut by 12.7m after leading. He’s the second winner out of smart racemare Starburst Girl (one of 7 winners out of Celebrity Ball). Congratulations to LJ Morris, K Morris, B Jaffer and J Jaffer.
