TSR Weekly Wrap | 27 Sep 2021
What a bumper week it was as we build towards the Victoria Cup Carnival and the biggest age classics of the year as the season works its way to a climax.
Nine wins right across the state with a treble and double, including some of our high-end three-year-olds, a first starter, and stable newcomer.
Always B Miki 2yo filly Rich Beauty capped off the week with a win on debut at Cranbourne on Sunday night.
She is out of one of our past stable favourites, 2012 Victoria Oaks winner Beauty Secret, which has now produced four winners.
We had a double at Melton on Wednesday and then a treble at the Kilmore Pacing Cup meeting on Friday night with results that were significant leading into the Victoria Derby and Victoria Oaks.
Heats of the three-year-old classic will be run at Bendigo on Saturday night with finals at the same track a week later.
These are the times of the year when you cannot help but get excited with anticipation.
WEEKLY WRAP
1st Rich Beauty (Kate Gath): Decron 2yo Maiden Pace, 2080m (2:00.6), at Cranbourne on Sunday, September 26. Cannot do any more than win on debut. Led and raced away by 10m with last 800m in 57.1sec. Impeccably bred, being by leading sire Always B Miki and out of an outstanding group 1-winning mare Beauty Secret. Yet another winner for master breeder Peter Gleeson, who races the filly in partnership with Clayton.
1st Platinum Sparkle (Connor Clarke): APG-Australasia's Richest & Best Race Series Pace, 2910m (2:01.8), at Mildura on Saturday, September 25. This 3yo filly found the lead from gate three and outclassed her rivals, running away by 18m, carving out the last 800m in 55.7sec. Now has seven wins in 20 starts. She's raced by the TSR Racing Group.
1st Major Moth (Damian Wilson): CUB Pace, 2180m (1:56), at Kilmore on Friday, September 24. Big effort by one of our star 2yos of last season as he prepares for the Victoria Derby. Three wide into the death seat and then raced keenly in a tough staying performance in quick time at just his second run for the season. The colt has now raced 11 times for seven wins. Congratulations to the Parkers.
1st Act Now (Jodi Quinlan): Reg Withers 3yo Classic, 2180m (1:56.8), at Kilmore on Friday, September 24. Bold front-running performance at just the colt's second race starts since May. His eighth career win in 19 starts took his earnings for the season past $100,000. Congratulations to Bruce and Vicki Edward at Durham Park.
1st Joanna (David Moran): Momentum Gaming Pace, 2180m (1:58.9), at Kilmore on Friday, September 24. The 3yo filly did not get any favours. Had to race outside the leader after starting from a wide gate. She's won 10 times now, including five this season. That's two in a row going into the Victoria Oaks. Congratulations to D and J Zavitsanos, and WR Viney.
1st Ideal Dan (Jackie Barker): TAB Long May We Play Pace, 1700m (1:55.8), at Horsham on Friday, September 24. A dashing run by the 3yo colt in slick time, with his last 800m in 55.8sec. Congratulations again to Danny Zavitsanos.

Congratulations to Anne and Bill Anderson from Lauriston Bloodstock.
