TSR Weekly Wrap | 18 Apr 2022
An unbelievable night at Launceston on Saturday.
To come away with nine wins from the nine races we contested and on top of that a group 1 quinella.
A big thank you to everyone who made contributions – staff, connections, and of course each of the 10 horses which delivered.
These achievements don’t happen without team-work.
It all led to:
Emma setting a new all-time high for winners for a trainer at one race meeting in Australian harness racing history. Her nine eclipsed the previous best of eight, which she held with Shayne Cramp.
Mark Pitt setting a new-all-time high for winners for a driver at one race meeting in Australian harness racing history. His nine was three better than the previous best had been six.
Mark equaling the all-time high for winners for a driver on one day in Australian harness racing history. He joins Bill Dixon who had four wins at Charters Towers and five at Townsville in 1975.
The individual race highlight was Tassie-bred Longfellow’s win in the $100,000 Easter Cup – the 4yo’s first G1 success as he held out a late surge by a brave Like A Wildfire.
He has done a big job since joining us from Tasmania mid-last season with seven wins and a third in the Victoria Derby. Four of those victories have come in return trips to Tassie.
The past week also featured a winner of debut with 2yo filly Perfect In Pink at Geelong on Thursday.
The daughter of American Ideal is the latest progeny of Kabbalah Karen B to go to the races – joining Our Little General, Kasbah Kid, Beautiful Woman, Ladies In Red and Our Little Jet.
